Rela members lodge report over Datuk Seri』s alleged bribe
PUTRAJAYA: The four Rela (People』s Volunteer Corps) members whowere allegedly assaulted by a 「Datuk Seri」 lodged a report with theMalaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today over an attemptto bribe them to withdraw their report.
Rela said in a statement that the report was lodged at the MACCoffice in Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur.
According to Rela, its members Melvin Cheong Mun Khai, 19; LeongJiun Jie, 21; Lee Weng Poh, 27; and Ho Hoong Keong, 55; gave theirstatements to the MACC on how they were offered a bribe to forgetthe incident and withdraw the police report made against the 「DatukSeri」.
Their statements were taken separately from 12.45pm to 3.30pm,said Rela.
In their police report, the Rela members alleged they wereassaulted by the 29-year-old 「Datuk Seri」 in an incident in KampungBaru Ampang, at 6.30am, on Friday.
The victims claimed the Datuk Seri assaulted them after theyasked him to move his Toyota Vellfire MPV parked at the side of theroad as it was obstructing traffic.
The 「Datuk Seri」 was arrested about 4pm yesterday after turninghimself in at the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD).He is being remanded for four days from today.
Police are investigating the case under Section 186 of the PenalCode for obstructing a civil servant from discharging his publicfunctions and Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminalforce on a civil servant with intent to prevent or deter thatperson from discharging his duty.
